What is the personality of the three-lined hamster like?

The three-lined hamster, also called the maple mouse or short-tailed squirrel, is naturally energetic and likes running wheels, climbing, and digging in its cage, with strong exercise needs. Second, it is fairly timid, prefers to be alone, and is wary of new environments, new things, and strangers, so it needs a quiet, comfortable home.
