What is the difference between a bamboo rat and a bamboo civet?

The bamboo rat and bamboo civet are the same animal; there is no difference. The bamboo rat is also called bamboo civet, mango civet, winter mango civet, and bamboo ferret, a fairly large rodent.

Adults are 30-40 cm long, some up to 45 cm, weighing 2-4 kg. Wild ones burrow on sunny hillsides under bamboo, eating bamboo stems, and breed prolifically. They are active at night and sleep by day.
