What harm can food attractants do to cats?

Small amounts of food attractants generally do no harm to cats. Attractants are mainly divided into amino-acid types and yeast types, and they are additives used to enhance the flavor of food and stimulate a cat’s appetite for a certain food.

However, excessive use of attractants can make a cat overly dependent on a particular food, leading to picky-eating habits. If that food is low in nutritional value or even contains substances harmful to the cat’s health, long-term feeding will cause the cat to become malnourished, with a weakened immune system, and thus more susceptible to disease.
