What happens if a puppy eats a dead chicken?

If the chicken only just died, eating it usually has little effect. But if it has already begun to rot and smell, the dog may develop diarrhea and vomiting, and in severe cases gastroenteritis leading to dehydration and even death.

A dead chicken may also carry many parasites that infect the dog through the intestines, so deworm it regularly. Finally, a puppy’s digestion is weak, and eating too much at once can cause indigestion.
