What happens if a kitten has low blood sugar?

A kitten with low blood sugar usually shows symptoms such as a racing heartbeat, lethargy, loss of appetite, slow reactions, lowered body temperature, coma, and convulsions. If the hypoglycemia lasts a long time it can also cause anemia, leading to pale mucous membranes, unsteady walking, slower blood circulation, reduced blood vessel elasticity, stunted development, and rough fur.

If left untreated, it can even trigger pancreatitis in the cat. Therefore, once hypoglycemia symptoms are noticed, take the kitten to a veterinary hospital promptly and make sure to feed it on a regular schedule with set portions.
