What happens if a Golden Retriever is given serum?

Golden Retrievers usually have no adverse reaction to serum, since it is a biological product extracted from healthy dogs’ blood that inhibits viral replication and is used to treat distemper, parvovirus and similar infections. But some dogs may have an allergic reaction; if shock or breathing difficulty appears after injection, seek veterinary care, usually needing immediate glucocorticoid injection.

Also, some sellers inject serum into sick dogs to make them look lively, but such dogs still show cloudy eyes, abnormal stool and dirty fur around the anus, so owners should watch closely.
