What happens if a dog’s ears are dyed?

Dyeing a dog’s ears may cause skin burns, hair loss and allergies. Many owners dye their dogs to satisfy personal preference, but dye is a fairly strong irritant, and a dog’s skin and coat are inherently fragile, so dyeing easily causes heavy shedding; if a large amount of dye accidentally contacts the skin during dyeing, it can also cause skin burns.

Finally, some dogs may be allergic to the dye, so after dyeing they scratch their ears frequently, causing redness, injury, ulceration and inflammation.
