What happens if a dog has CHD (hip dysplasia)?

CHD refers to hip dysplasia, a hereditary skeletal disease. Affected dogs show reduced jumping ability, reluctance to move, joint pain, lameness and difficulty rising.

Without control, walking wobble worsens as hind legs weaken, muscles atrophy and paralysis may follow. Treat with anti-inflammatory painkillers, control weight and reduce activity to ease joint pressure; severe cases need surgery.
