A dog without water for 2 days may suffer dehydration, shock or even acute renal failure and death. If the dog is strong and weather not hot, 2 days may only cause mild dehydration with sunken eyes, weight loss and low skin elasticity, which improves with prompt watering.

But a weaker dog going long without water easily dehydrates and shocks, and reduced kidney perfusion can cause acute renal failure, threatening its life.
