What happens if a dog eats dried shrimp (shrimp shells)?

Eating a small amount of dried shrimp usually won’t affect a dog much, because dried shrimp are made from tiny shrimp, small in size with thin shells, so they rarely irritate the stomach or scratch the gut lining. However, dried shrimp are usually quite salty from processing, and overfeeding raises the kidney’s metabolic burden and can cause tear stains, shedding, dry coat, and excessive drinking.
