What happens if a dog chokes on water while bathing?

A dog choking on bath water usually coughs intensely but recovers on its own with little intervention. Comfort it to avoid a lasting fear of bathing.

After the bath, dry and blow-dry the coat to prevent chills. If choking leads to persistent cough, fever, or lethargy, it may have pneumonia.
