Eating a small amount of egg white will not cause discomfort in a Border Collie, but a dog’s stomach is generally delicate. Eating too much egg white increases the digestive burden and can lead to soft stools, diarrhea, and abdominal pain from indigestion.

Also be careful about feeding egg white regularly, because it contains a large amount of avidin, which interferes with the dog’s absorption of vitamin H (biotin). Long-term feeding can cause other health problems. It is better to feed a little egg yolk instead, since yolk is high in protein and rich in lecithin, which benefits the Border Collie’s coat.
