If a puppy’s onion poisoning is not treated promptly, it may die within a short time. With a small amount ingested and mild symptoms, jaundice and anemia may still appear after about a week. Symptoms of onion poisoning include loss of appetite, lethargy, vomiting, diarrhea, coffee- or soy-sauce-colored urine, and accelerated heartbeat; if noticed, take the dog to the vet promptly.

Normally, also avoid feeding dogs avocado, chocolate, coffee, grapes, and alcoholic foods to prevent poisoning.
