What Does Cat Chin Acne Look Like?

In the early stage of cat chin acne, coal-like small black dots usually appear at the base of the fur, without pain or itch. If not handled in time, the black dots gradually increase and easily lead to secondary infection and folliculitis, with red swollen bumps, along with skin itching, hair loss, and oiliness.

Cat chin acne is usually caused by excessive oil secretion or over-keratinization of the skin. If the symptoms are mild, wash the cat with soapy water or a chlorhexidine solution to remove excess oil, and adjust its diet to avoid greasy food. Also, do not use plastic bowls, because they easily harbor bacteria that let the chin contact many germs, worsening or repeating the acne.
