What does abdominal breathing in a cat look like?

Abdominal breathing shows little chest movement but obvious abdominal movement and a fast rate, even open-mouth breathing in severe cases. Normal cat breathing is 20 to 60 per minute; if over 50 at rest, see a vet.

Causes include pulmonary edema, pneumothorax, asthma, upper-airway blockage and ascites, needing a treatment plan based on other symptoms and tests.
