A rabbit runs very fast, sometimes too fast for the naked eye. Its front legs are short and hind legs long; when running it lifts the front first, then the hind at mid-air to level them for balance.

After the front legs land, the hind legs contract forward, returning to the front-low rear-high pose, so during continuous hops the body bobs up and down.
