What does a fancy rat (hooded rat) eat?

Fancy rats can eat many foods—fruit, vegetables, nuts. In captivity, use synthetic feed as the staple for balanced nutrition.

You can also add some fruit and vegetables, but avoid acidic fruit, and don’t feed too much high-sugar fruit to protect their health.

Remove seeds from fruit before feeding to prevent accidental swallowing and choking.
