What does a cat cough look like?

A coughing cat stretches its neck, opens its mouth and makes a short, harsh cough-cough from the throat. It may come from pressure or irritation in the nose, throat or lungs; if from eating too fast, it usually recovers after a moment.

Irritating smells also cause violent coughing, so ventilate. Frequent coughing may be a cold or other respiratory infection needing a vet.
