Newborn wild budgerigars mainly eat the mother bird’s regurgitated food, because at that time their digestion is poor and the regurgitated food is easy to digest. For hand-fed newborn budgerigars, use bird-specific formula milk, or feed cooked corn mush or millet.

After two months, budgerigars can be weaned and then fed softened millet, with food types gradually increased.
