Vomiting and diarrhea in dogs may be caused by hemorrhagic gastroenteritis, gastric ulcers, parvovirus, or coronavirus infection. If your dog has not been vaccinated, take it to a veterinary clinic immediately for a blood count, fecal exam, and virus screening to determine the exact cause. If parvovirus is confirmed, antiviral medications such as parvovirus monoclonal antibody and interferon should be used promptly, together with antibiotics, hemostatics, antiemetics, and antidiarrheals to relieve symptoms. In addition, if your dog cannot eat normally, hospitalization with fluid therapy may be needed to replenish water and electrolytes.
