Silver fox hamsters are mostly white, a few silver-white. Although mainly white, they have local black mixed fur, mainly on the head and tail. They are divided into two types: the three-line silver fox and the purple-cage silver fox.

The three-line has more dark mixed fur; the purple-cage has light or no mixed fur. Generally, whiter fur, fewer mixed hairs, and a rounder body indicate better appearance.
