What causes middle ear infection in dogs?

Common causes of middle ear infection in dogs include bacterial or fungal infection and ear mite infestation. A dog’s ear canal is a relatively enclosed environment, and if it stays damp, bacteria and germs can easily grow and cause middle ear infection. Ear mites are also a common cause; they are a frequent ear parasite in dogs, and if an infection is found, the dog should be dewormed and treated promptly.
