What causes a dog’s leg cramps?

A dog’s leg cramps can be caused by many factors, including calcium deficiency, cold weather, food allergy, injury, or illness. Calcium deficiency is a common cause; with low calcium the dog often shows leg weakness, twitching, and cramps.

In addition, in low temperatures the muscles may cramp from cold stimulation. Also, if the dog is injured or has a nerve disease, leg cramps may appear.
