Anemic cats typically show pale gums, malnutrition, low spirits, reluctance to move, a thin body, and a rough coat. Severely anemic cats may also develop difficulty standing, overall weakness, and swelling in the limbs and extremities.
Feline anemia can be divided into nutritional anemia, hemolytic anemia, aplastic anemia, and acute hemorrhagic anemia. Nutritional anemia is relatively common. If a cat develops nutritional anemia, the owner needs to provide more nutrition, for example by feeding more foods rich in protein and nutrients.
