In build, the Belgian Malinois is medium to large, compact and well-proportioned, with solid bones, an agile posture, and sharp insight; it is quick and swift. In temperament, it is independent, lively, intelligent, alert, and highly watchful.

But its wild nature makes it hard to tame and unsuitable as a family pet. Owners must invest more time and effort to raise and train it.
