Helping Your Cat Settle Into a New Home Quickly
Bringing a cat home is easier when you give it a safe, closed territory of its own first. Set up a cozy bed, litter box, food and water bowls, and keep them away from each other. Bring a familiar item from the old home (a little used litter, the same food, a worn towel). For the first week, care with restraint: feed and scoop, but otherwise act as if the cat is not there, and keep children away. Leave a gap so it can explore on its own terms; when it approaches you, offer food and a gentle stroke, then let go the moment it looks restless.
