Gastroenteritis and FIP can look alike at first, but FIP is far more dangerous. Gastroenteritis brings vomiting, diarrhea, and lethargy and is usually treatable; FIP (driven by coronavirus mutation) causes fluid buildup, jaundice, eye inflammation, and neurological signs, and is often fatal. Both need prompt veterinary care.
