I. Symptoms of Internal Heat in Dogs

1. Bad breath: without regular mouth cleaning, tartar and plaque build up, bacteria accumulate, and overall oral health suffers. Tartar gradually damages gums, causing gingivitis and severe bad breath.

2. Eye discharge: a dog with internal heat has much discharge, cloudy and sticky, likely signaling eye inflammation or viral infection.

3. Dark, strong-smelling urine: dogs naturally have strong urine odor, but frequent dark, pungent urine may mean too little water, too much salt, or a urinary tract infection.

II. How to Cool a Dog Down

1. Cooling tea: give sweet herbal teas, xiasangju granules, banlangen, etc., in small doses – about one quarter of a human dose.

2. Green bean soup: boil green beans; they are cooling, so a small dog may get diarrhea – feed sparingly.

3. Andrographis tablets: they clear heat. Crush and dissolve in water for the dog; if urine is not especially yellow, just give more water instead of medicine.

4. Raw egg white: can be fed; some dogs get loose stools, but not daily it is fine and helps the gut somewhat.

5. Fruits: apples, oranges, bananas, pears, etc. help, but do not overfeed, and remove seeds, as some are harmful.

6. Switch food: some brands add too many flavorings, causing heat over time; changing food occasionally is fine.
