1 Overview

Cunsui is made by Fubei Pet, China’s largest pet-food maker. A genuine domestic food of mid-range quality. From the formula above we see it is a natural grain-free food, with no corn, rice or bone-meal junk protein or meat. The maker just wrote the formula unclearly.

Wheat germ is great in food – highest in lysine, very high in linoleic acid (about 60%, mostly unsaturated), rich in B-vitamins: B1 is 15x flour, 12x rice, 28x soy, 33x beef.

Second, vitamin E is also rich, plus calcium, potassium, magnesium, iron, zinc, chromium, selenium – abundant proteins, amino acids, fatty acids, vitamins and trace elements.

This food features chicken and fish, with fish and chicken oil for fat, supplying skin nutrition. It adds egg powder and lecithin for coat, and multiple vitamins are essential – otherwise nutrition is unbalanced.

Also added glucosamine and chondroitin sulfate (with fish oil) for joint protection. A clean, direct, no-nonsense formula without flashy ad marketing. Chicken and fish.

Suits all seasons; its biggest feature is low-temperature baking that locks nutrients. But it lacks an immunity boost additive; for a puppy formula (not a milk cake) that is a pity, replaced only by multiple vitamins and chelated minerals.

For medium/large breeds at 3 months, add egg yolk and fish oil to cover gaps – good stuff with no side effects. Note: this food has no bentonite, so do not switch all at once, or the new food causes gut upset and diarrhea.

Now the adult formula: much like the puppy, with added glucosamine and chondroitin for joints; preservative is vitamin C and E. Still clean and no-nonsense – a practical natural food.

Test values: crude fat 12% – palatability a bit weak; higher fat means better taste, and some dogs are picky. Add fish oil and egg yolk for palatability; long-haired especially need it. Adult protein 29% – fairly high for adults.

So no need to add chicken breast; it fully meets needs. But a dog that eats and does not exercise may not digest high protein, causing soft stool – so exercise. Adults need no calcium supplement; this food is already high in calcium. Long-haired need egg yolk and fish oil; short-haired with skin issues (like Labradors) can add fish oil.
