One-Month-Old Kitten Has Not Opened Its Eyes and Has Pus in Them

A kitten of one month not fully opening its eyes may have an eye disease, or bacteria and viruses causing discharge that crusts the eyes shut. Kittens usually open their eyes at 7 to 14 days with slight variation by breed; this one shows signs of opening but has much pus, so rinse daily with saline, gently wipe the corners, and apply a pet antibacterial eye drop several times a day for three days to see improvement. If no improvement, take it to a clinic to check for injury or congenital eye disease. Also, keep a newly opened-eyed kitten out of strong light to avoid eye damage.
