Ear canal bacterial infection in hamsters requires careful cleaning and medicated care, plus regular cage cleaning and disinfection. Before cleaning, use a fine swab with a special ear solution or disinfectant to remove discharge, then apply compound neomycin ear oil 2-3 times daily until fully healed.

For severe infection, follow the vet’s prescription for oral quinolone antibiotics such as Baytril, used per dosage. If the hamster scratches its ear from discomfort, fit a small makeshift Elizabethan collar.
