My rabbit has a scab and lump by its eye—should I cut it open and squeeze it?

A scab and redness near a rabbit’s eye is usually skin inflammation from fungal or bacterial infection. If the lump is hard with no pus formed, do not cut it open and squeeze, to avoid worsening infection. Clean and disinfect with gauze soaked in saline or povidone-iodine, then apply antibacterial and anti-inflammatory ointment; the swelling slowly goes down as the wound absorbs the medicine. Skin disease treatment is long; if there is no improvement, the drug may be wrong, so see a vet for targeted care.
