My Puppy Was Energetic and Eating Fine at First, Then Started With Diarrhea, Then Vomited Yellow Fluid, Then Stopped Eating and Became Lethargic; the Diarrhea Had a Bit of Red and Today a Long White Thing Came Out
Expert Answer
Vomiting, bloody diarrhea, and passing worms strongly suggest an internal parasite infection or parvovirus or coronavirus infection. Take the dog to the hospital promptly for fecal and infectious-disease testing to avoid delaying treatment.
If a hospital visit is not convenient and the dog is still in good spirits, after the vomiting and diarrhea have stopped you can deworm it and use probiotics and an acid-suppressant to reduce stomach acid. During recovery, feed small amounts of liquid food or puppy milk formula.
However, your puppy’s current state is most likely a mixed infection of parasites and parvovirus, which is very dangerous for puppies. Without timely fluid therapy and antiviral treatment it is unlikely to pull through, so get it to the hospital as soon as you notice something is wrong.
