My new dog arrived today, vomited three times after sugar water, and will not eat kibble; what is wrong?

A newly bought dog vomiting and not eating, if from a market or pet shop, may be a sick puppy with distemper, parvovirus, or coronavirus, or parasites. Also, stress from just arriving can cause acute gastritis.

First fast and withhold water half a day; if vomiting stops, give gut anti-inflammatory and probiotics to prevent secondary infection, and keep observing. If the dog is lethargic, keeps vomiting, has diarrhea, or will not eat, take it to a hospital to check for infectious disease and parasites and treat promptly.
