After a hedgehog miscarries, wait half a year to a year before considering young again; if her condition is poor, do not breed at all, as it shortens life. If you must breed, let them freely mate next spring. After miscarriage she needs careful hand-feeding with varied, protein-rich foods like mealworms, snails, and earthworms, or a self-mixed meat-based diet with fruit and vegetables in proportion. Note hedgehogs are lactose-sensitive, so do not feed dairy.
