Common reasons for a bump above a dog’s eye include internal heat, third-eyelid gland hyperplasia, insect bites, or abnormal gland growth near the eye. If the dog’s diet is dry and it drinks little, it easily gets internal heat, which can cause bumps around the eyes—adjust the diet and give more water.
If the bump is at the inner edge of the eye, third-eyelid gland prolapse is the main suspect and usually requires surgical removal. If the bump does not go away or other abnormal symptoms appear, take the dog to a vet for examination and treatment promptly.
