My cat vomited and had diarrhea every day and then died; what happened?

Daily vomiting and diarrhea that ends in death may come from bacterial, viral, or parasitic infection causing digestive tract infection. Panleukopenia and acute gastroenteritis both cause vomiting and diarrhea and, without timely treatment, lead to dehydration and electrolyte imbalance and eventually death.

Vomiting and diarrhea are very serious in young cats. When you see these signs, treat at once and take the cat to the hospital promptly. Sometimes ordinary enteritis recovers quickly with early care; otherwise, because cats cannot tell you, delay may cost the best chance to treat.
