My cat has a lot of eye discharge that won’t wipe off – what is it?

Heavy eye discharge may come from heat, a cold, eye disease, or calicivirus. Clean the eyes and watch for redness.

If the eyes are normal apart from discharge, it may be heat; use a light diet and more water.

If the nose also has discharge or sneezing, consider a cold or calicivirus.
