Methods and tips for keeping ornamental fish

To keep ornamental fish, first determine the water temperature the species prefers, then prepare the tank: let tap water sit for three days, run the circulation and filtration system for four days, and only after testing with a starter fish can you put the ornamental fish into the tank. Keep the water temperature stable.

Also change the water regularly, because fish waste and leftover food constantly affect water quality and can harm the fish’s health. In summer, change the water every 4-7 days, replacing one third each time; in spring and autumn you can change it every two weeks to a month, and in winter adjust the frequency based on water conditions. For beginners, it is generally best to keep just one species at first, since different ornamental fish prefer different environments and habits, and mixing them increases the difficulty of care.
