The hamster may be in critical condition and should be taken to a vet promptly. If it can still swallow, give small, frequent amounts of honey or glucose water by spoon to avoid collapse from starvation, and check its temperature for cold; keep it warm.

If warming does not restore normal temperature, the chance of recovery is low as low temperature and collapse stop the heart. If breathing and heartbeat are normal with eyes open, this may be self-protection; raise the temperature, dim the light, or use favorite food to coax it awake.
