Teddy refers to a grooming style of the Poodle; generally, once a small Poodle is clipped into a teddy-bear style it can be called a Teddy dog. Poodles are divided by size into four types โ€” standard, toy, miniature and teacup โ€” and the smaller ones suit the Teddy look better, making the little Poodle look neater and cuter and easier to care for than other styles.

Because a Poodle’s coat is naturally curly, it needs regular grooming, or the hair easily mats into clumps; badly matted coats then need to be shaved.
