Neutering removes the testes through a small incision that does not damage the urethra. If the cat shows pain while urinating, it may be pulling on the wound, which usually resolves quickly. After surgery, fit an Elizabethan collar to prevent licking or wetting the wound, and avoid vigorous activity to prevent infection or dehiscence.
