I was bitten yesterday afternoon; it only hurt briefly and I did not notice until I saw a scab at night. The dog is three months old, over three pounds, and has always lived indoors.

For a bite that breaks the skin and bleeds, get the first rabies shot and watch the dog for ten days; if it is still healthy after ten days, later shots can be skipped. An indoor dog has low infection risk, but rabies is nearly 100% fatal, so the choice is yours.

At the moment of the bite, rinse with clean water then soapy water for 15-20 minutes, then disinfect with iodine.
