I just found a lump on my puppy’s tail; I pinched it and it didn’t react. Please help me see what the problem is

A dog’s skin showing hair loss and a lump is usually swelling from skin-inflammation, commonly fungal or bacterial infection. If there is a nearby pet hospital, take the dog for a skin scraping and microscope exam to confirm the infection type, then medicate.

If a clinic is unavailable, first clip the fur over the spot, disinfect with iodine, then apply an antibacterial and anti-inflammatory drug such as a pet spray. If the dog licks or chews the spot, put on an Elizabethan collar.
