How to tell if a German Shepherd is purebred?

A purebred German Shepherd is fairly large, about 50 to 65 cm at the shoulder, with a head reaching roughly an adult man’s waist. The back is slightly arched, not too straight. Purebred puppies have thick legs and large paws, which are easy to recognize; thin legs may indicate mixed breeding. The muzzle is wide, only slightly narrower than the face, and not too pointed.

As adults the muzzle lengthens but stays wide and rectangular from the side. Finally, a purebred’s tail hangs naturally when relaxed, ears stand up at 2 to 3 months, and the eyes are usually dark brown.
