How to tell if a dog has poor digestion?

Frequent soft stools, bloating, vomiting, poor appetite, or long-term alternating constipation and diarrhea indicate poor digestion, often from irregular feeding and weak intestinal peristalsis.

Irregular feeding with binge eating after starvation harms the gut. Older or inactive dogs also digest poorly; give probiotics and more exercise.
