How to teach fixed-point elimination? Manage the living space: give a clean comfortable bed, then a fixed toilet spot like a balcony or bathroom. Importantly, fence a free-activity elimination zone, lay newspaper or pee pads, and spray an attractant. Or put the dog on newspaper when it needs to go; over time it forms the habit. At first, keep the dog eating, drinking, and eliminating in this zone daily without break. Once it links elimination with the pad, shrink the pad area, then open the fenced space. If it still eliminates there, it has learned.

Learning isn’t easy. If the dog eliminates outside the zone, clean thoroughly and use a pet disinfectant to remove the smell, guiding it to the right spot. When you see it eliminate in the right spot, reward promptly—praise or a small treat. If you catch it elsewhere, stop it firmly and teach, a light pat on the bottom as warning. Proper reward and correction help it learn right from wrong for better results.
