Most dogs enjoy having their heads touched. Owners can use a gentle kneading motion to massage the Spitz’s head, which helps blood circulation and relieves muscle stiffness. The chin is an area the dog cannot reach itself, so it often itches there; gently scratching it with your fingers feels very comfortable.

Many dogs also like their backs stroked. Owners can slowly pet along the direction of the fur, but reach your hand from in front of the dog’s field of view to avoid startling it.
