Golden Retrievers are medium-to-large dogs, so choose a dog food suited to their growth and development. Those under 1 year old need puppy food, and after 1 year you should gradually switch to adult dog food. Feeding frequency also varies by age: 2 to 3 month old puppies should be fed 3 to 4 times a day to support growth.
After 1 year, feeding twice a day, morning and evening, is recommended. Dogs over 8 years old have declining digestion, so they should also be fed 3 times a day.
