How often is a Corgi internally dewormed?
Corgi internal deworming is mostly tablets, dosed by the dog’s weight, fed directly. At 4, 8, 12 weeks once each; after 12 weeks every 3 months. Regular deworming prevents and kills, less trouble.
How to feed the internal dewormer
Open the Corgi’s mouth, place the tablet at the tongue base, hold the mouth, stroke the neck until it swallows, then release.
External deworming
How often is a Corgi externally dewormed?
External removes surface parasites, usually preventive spot-on or spray, applied on the body. With no parasites found, after 49 days of age, monthly prevention; in summer every 15 days; in peak season a bit more often.
How to use the external dewormer
Spray: evenly over the coat, soak it all, then lightly massage and let dry. Spot-on: part the hair along the spine and apply in a line.
Corgi deworming notes:
1. A just-homed Corgi puppy should not be dewormed at once.
2. If it has internal parasites, first boost nutrition and strength, then deworm.
3. Deworm only when the Corgi is healthy.
4. Deworming and vaccines should not be simultaneous, or they may interfere and fail the vaccine.
5. Generally vaccinate first, then deworm.
6. Never give the Corgi human dewormers.
